The Chicago Bears have been getting crushed in recent games, losing three successive matches to the Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, and the New England Patriots.
Change, therefore, is necessary. The most recent loss on Sunday was particularly disastrous as Drake Maye and Joey Slye ran the Bears ragged with a touchdown pass and four field goals, respectively, while rendering Chicago’s offensive null and void.
Bears coach Matt Eberflus said the latest defeat will prompt changes, telling reporters that he’ll look through the line-up to assess where the team is weak, and strong. But one man who will keep his spot as a starter is quarterback Caleb Williams. “Caleb is our starter,” embattled Eberflus told reporters.

“There will be changes, adjustments, being made,” Eberflus added, according to ESPN, and, aside from the quarterback role, “everything is on the table” when it comes to alterations and adjustments to who starts, and who doesn’t though he’s loathe to identify who might lose their place in the team.
“I’m not going to disclose those right now,” the 54-year-old coach said. “I’m not at that point in the process. Monday is a long day in terms of the evaluation of everything, in terms of lineups, in terms of the coaching, in terms of how we need to do better in that coaching and in that communication in-game, during the game, after the game, prior to the game.
“It’s important that we take time to make those decisions and make the right decisions that’s for the Bears, best for the Bears going forward this week and going forward into the future.”
ESPN reported that one role which could face the chop is Shane Waldron, who joined the staff in January, 2024, as offensive co-ordinator. If Waldron were to face the axe, the decision would have to made “fairly quick,” said Eberflus.
But he doesn’t yet have the answers. Eberflus added: “When I have those answers, I’ll get them to you. I’m just not at that point right now.”
One of the answers he does have is how the team needs to drastically improve it’s “in-game communication.” He said: “The adjustments, the tactical adjustments, need to be better with that on all sides. Everything’s on the table. And it’s important that we look at everything and we take the time to get that done.”
With the Bears ranked toward the bottom in the entire NFL when it comes to points scored (24th) and total yards (30th), any changes Eberflus will hope to implement will have to take effect soon if they are to improve in upcoming games against Green Bay Packers on November 17, Minnesota Vikings on November 24, and Detroit Lions on November 28.
