GOOD NEWS: Logan Webb Shuts Down Critics with Calm, Dominant All-Star Performance That Reminds Giants Fans Why He’s Still Their Ace.nh1

July 16, 2025 by mrs z

SF Giants ace Logan Webb made his second All-Star Game in 2025 and things went a little bit better this year. In one inning of work, Webb allowed one hit but no runs and made fairly quick work of his AL opponents.

This stands in stark contrast to last season when Webb struggled in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. In one inning, he allowed three earned runs on three hits and a walk which was not the All-Star debut he was hoping for.

Apparently, Webb was not exactly sober for last year’s All-Star Game so maybe he made sure to lay off the sauce prior to this year’s All-Star Game.

Of course, how any player performs in the All-Star Game does not matter too much since it is just an exhibition with no real stakes involved. Yet, players definitely take pride in wearing their team’s jersey and do not want to get embarrassed.

Webb certainly took pride in the fact that he was able to wear his normal Giants uniform which was a change made this year to move away from the All-Star designed jerseys that MLB experimented with the last few years.

Even though it does not count for a ton, Webb will certainly take a little confidence from this outing. His last time on the mound did not end well as he got roughed up in his final inning of work against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Unfortunately, Randy Rodríguez did not have the best All-Star debut as he gave up a three-run homer. Maybe he can emulate Webb and make it back next year and redeem himself with a solid outing.

The Giants are going to need Webb to keep on being his usual ace self the rest of this season. Pitching is the team’s strength and their rotation is going to have to be what propels them to the playoffs.

It is easy to take Webb for granted with how consistent and reliable he has been going on five seasons now. Still, we would do well to take a second and appreciate how valuable it is to have an ace like him who can take the ball every fifth day and give his team a chance to win just aboutevery time.

Let’s hope he can continue to anchor the team’s rotation in the second half because we know they are going to need Webb at his best if they want to get where they want to go.
