A deserted cat, accompanied by a heart-wrenching letter, holds a surprise in store for the volunteers who opened their hearts to her.
Abandoned in front of a shelter, a cat was accompanied by a message left by her former mistress explaining that she was no longer able to keep her. A few days later, volunteers realized it was in fact a multiple rescue.
“ My mom can’t keep me anymore. Please take me in. I promise to be a good pussy .” This message accompanied Pricilla , a feline abandoned in front of the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue shelter in Asheville , North Carolina (United States).
The reception structure shared the information and photos on its Facebook page on December 19, 2023. The cat in question is 6 years old. For Brooke Fornea , marketing director of the shelter, it is obviously never pleasant to deal with yet another abandonment, but it is out of the question to judge anyone.
” We were filled with sorrow for Pricilla and her mother, who had to part with them in this way ,” she told Newsweek . We can’t imagine how painful it must have been to write a note in a hurry and leave your beautiful, loving pussy behind. Pricilla is comfortable with people and [her owner] took care of her. So we know it must have been a difficult choice. »
The situation is far from new for the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue team . The reception structure must deal with a growing number of pet abandonments linked to economic difficulties.
Pricilla wasn’t entirely alone
4 days after the first post, the shelter gave some news about Pricilla and it was somewhat surprising. It turned out that the cat was pregnant . She had a complicated birth because one of the kittens got stuck. An emergency intervention resolved the problem; all the babies and their parents were saved. They were placed in the care of a foster family.
“ We now understand why her family made the decision to leave her with us, and we hope she sees this message and knows she is receiving the best possible care ,” the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue post reads. .
