This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have returned to their presenting roles after a summer break, but a body language expert has revealed that Cat shows she finds it ‘awkward to interject’ at times.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo, Darren Stanton claims that Cat displays her nerves through body language gestures such as ‘interlinking her fingers’ and ‘gripping her hands together’, whereas Ben continues to be the ‘dominant’ host.
He said: “Ben comes across as very dominant, and very confident. He appears to be the supreme presenter, despite the fact Cat has a lot of experience as well. There doesn’t seem to be a great connection between the two of them. At times, she clearly finds it awkward to interject in the conversation. […]
“I wouldn’t say it’s nerves as such, but there is a bit of awkwardness with Cat. It’s difficult to say this is a lack of confidence, but having spent a lot of time in America and being trained in that way, it’s a different kind of presenting style to here. It’s very fast paced and action orientated.
Cat interlinks her fingers and grips her hands together at times, which suggests she is not feeling wholly confident. This shows she has had an internal shift in emotion. At times, she will bite her lip too. It’s unusual, as someone with so much experience, but America is so different to the UK in terms of presenting style, so this might be why she appears to get nervous.”

Cat Deeley joined This Morning in March
Cat has been a familiar face on our television screens for decades, hosting a variety of shows in the UK and the USA over the years. The 47-year-old is married to Patrick Kielty and they share two sons together, Milo and James.
The pair originally were living in California but moved back to England in 2020 after a terrifying ordeal. Cat and her family were caught up in a horrible mall shooting in Century City Mall.
Speaking to You Magazine, she previously recalled: “They shut down the centre. I got a call from Paddy, saying, ‘They’re taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us?’ He wanted to keep Milo calm, so I didn’t understand the enormity of what was happening.”
