However, after a series of tests, the shelter staff discovered that Thin Dog’s red blood cell count was alarmingly low. In a last-ditch effort to save him, Thin Dog received a blood transfusion, leaving his fans anxiously awaiting an update on his condition. Unfortunately, the blood transfusion did not succeed, and the shelter staff had no choice but to say goodbye to their resilient dog.

“It’s with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet boy has crossed the rainbow bridge,” Citadel Wayne Animal Care & Control announced on Facebook. “This sweet boy was such a fighter and beat all odds we had for him when we met him just over a week ago.”

The sanctuary staff praised their medical team for their unwavering care and dedication and expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support from around the world.
