Helen Dalglish had spent over KSh 17 million in over two decades as she hoped to hold her bundle of joy. After welcoming a bouncing baby girl, the new mum said her two decades of pain had been eradicated and forgotten.

“When you get that little miracle at the end, you forget about the 25 years. I was looking down, and the bump was getting bigger, and I thought, ‘Am I dreaming?’ Looking at her, I can’t believe I’m a mum. It’s surreal.”

The Scottish mother started trying to have a baby when she was 28 with her then-husband before being diagnosed with unexplained infertility.

Titled uterus prevents pregnancy
A consultant told her that her uterus was severely titled, which always led to negative results in the procedures she applied to get pregnant.

From then, Helen got pregnant three times but suffered heartbreaking miscarriages. Her only chance at being a mum was using donor eggs.

She and her husband received the wonderful news via email and were moved to tears as the prospect of being parents was nearer than ever.

“When we came home, I burst out crying. It felt like 25 years of grief trying to escape and caught me at a moment where I wasn’t expecting it. It’s absolute heaven. She keeps getting better. She seems the most placid, laid-back, happy baby. It’s almost like I waited so long, and now I’m being spoilt,” she said.
